Resumen
Violence against women is a serious human rights violation and represents a global public health and clinical problem. In intimate relationships, the partner or ex-partner is the main perpetrator of this violence. Various studies have linked this aggressive behavior to multiple sociodemographic and occupational factors. The objective of this study was to determine the factors associated with the perpetration of violence against women in a sample of 626 elementary school teachers from a region of Peru. A cross-sectional descriptive design was used, and a logistic regression analysis was performed. The results indicate that 32.3% of teachers have inflicted some type of psychological, physical, sexual, and/or economic violence on their current or former partner at some point in their lives. Furthermore, it was found that the risk of perpetration decreases when the teacher is over 55 years of age and if he or she has a postgraduate degree; while it increases among those who are separated or divorced. In conclusion, these findings provide evidence on a poorly studied professional group, contributing to the understanding of risk factors in the educational field and facilitating the design of specific preventive and intervention strategies. © (2025), (Universidad del Zulia).
