Resumen
The aim of this study was to identify the main factors affecting fixed-timed artificial insemination (FTAI) programmes in crossbred goats from the dry forests of the northern coast of Peru. Pregnancy rates were determined by analysing the effect of weight and age at the time of FTAI, the season in which it was performed (warm or temperate), management during the FTAI protocol (optimal or poor), and the male goat used as a semen donor (chilled). A total of 217 crossbred goats (3.47 years of age and 45.3 kg live weight) distributed in 11 batches were inseminated between 2019 and 2024. The goats were raised under an extensive system. For statistical analysis, binary logistic regression (p<0.05) was used with PROC LOGISTIC of the SAS program. The overall pregnancy rate was 47.5%. The factors age, weight, season and management had no effect on the pregnancy percentage, while the «Male» effect (one of the six males) had an influence on the pregnancy rate.
