Resumen
Typha species have been used for energy crops in constructed wastewater. They have a great capacity to bioremediate eutrophic waters and produce biomass. Typha represents a potential source for biobased materials, solid biomass, or cellulosic bioethanol for circular bioeconomy. The objective of this paper is to present current knowledge regarding the critical characteristics of the Typha and identify promising applications and potential for its use in Peru. Results of this work show that all plant fractions of Typha biomass (leaves and shoots, roots, and rhizomes) have a high potential for biorefinery. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
