EXPLORING THE MEANING OF LIFE: A QUALITATIVE INQUIRY IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSPIRED BY VICTOR FRANKL

Bolo-Romero K.M.; Rebaza-López L.L.; Morales-Yanayaco L. · Revista Conhecimento Online (2025) · DOI: 10.25112/rco.v1.4126

Resumen

Inspired by Viktor Frankl’s philosophy, this research focuses on exploring how university teachers perceive and construct their sense of life in the contemporary context of society. This research has a qualitative approach, to investigate the perception of the subject and its relationship with the educational field, profession and personal life, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 5 teachers from the Humanities area of a private university in Lima. The sample was selected for the convenience of the researcher. The results confirm the importance of a purpose that guides and gives meaning to life, this is closely linked to the educational field where the human is appreciated through respect for others, valuing the dignity and potential of each participant in the educational community. Teachers face challenges and questions about their profession, however, they have an understanding of their guiding role, especially in humanistic areas, which allows them to facilitate the construction of a sense of life for their students and face their own existential crises. In this way, by combining theoretical knowledge with personal reflection and an openness to the transcendent, teachers not only enrich the comprehensive education of students, but also find in their work a renewed source of meaning that transcends the everyday.
