Resumen
The deployment of nanosatellites into orbit has witnessed a significant surge, primarily attributed to their cost-effectiveness, leveraging off-the-shelf space components, and their instrumental role in educational endeavours to nurture aerospace professionals. Given their potential, nanosatellites stand poised to contribute significantly to Earth observation, offering invaluable insights through satellite imagery for informed decision-making. To harness this potential, the proposal advocates developing advanced image processing algorithms tailored for nanosatellites, particularly leveraging many-core processors. The computationally intensive nature of image processing necessitates robust algorithms capable of handling vast amounts of data efficiently, making multi-core processors an ideal choice for enhancing computational capabilities. The envisioned outcome of this endeavour is the development of high-performance algorithms primed for deployment in future CubeSats. To achieve this, collaboration through cooperative agreements is essential, facilitating the validation of these algorithms in forthcoming satellite missions.
