Resumen

Aim: To determine the level of knowledge, attitude, accessibility, and confidence in evidence-based dentistry and explore its relationship with the professional characteristics of dentists in Metropolitan Lima. Materials and methods: Analytic, cross-sectional study of 190 dentists in Metropolitan Lima aged between 22 and 65 years. The Knowledge, Attitude, Access, and Confidence (KACE) questionnaire, adapted and validated into Spanish, was used. Participants were characterized according to age, sex, postgraduate studies completed, type of practice, and years of professional experience. The Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis test were used, considering a significance level of 5%. Results: The lowest averages were found in knowledge (2.74±1.83), followed by accessibility (30.88±6.28), with the highest average score in attitude (38.95±6.22). Knowledge among those who had completed a master’s/doctorate degree was (3.67± 2.12), p = 0.014. Attitude was lower among those who were only engaged in private practice (38.52±6.51), p = 0.016. Confidence and accessibility did not show significant differences according to the characteristics studied. Conclusion: Knowledge and attitude were higher among those who had completed a master’s or doctoral degree and who were engaged in teaching.
