Resumen
Accelerated population growth, coupled with the industrialization and urbanization of developing countries, has contributed to environmental deterioration, while insufficient attention to sustainable construction has exacerbated global pollution problems. This initiative is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 11) by promoting the use of construction and demolition waste (CDW). The objective was to evaluate the impact of partially replacing natural coarse aggregate (NCA) with recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) in percentages of 10%, 30%, 40%, and 50%. The study had a quantitative, applied-experimental approach and utilized an experimental research design. The sample consisted of 120 concrete pavers at 28 MPa, subjected to compression, flexural, abrasion, absorption, and dimensional variation tests. The results of the concrete paver with 10% RCA achieved a higher compressive strength than the standard sample. When the ARG was increased to 30, 40, and 50%, the mechanical properties decreased. Likewise, the physical characteristics varied proportionally to the ARG replacement. The use of ARG is a viable alternative for the production of paving stones for pedestrian pavements, which comply with NTP 399.611 and contribute to reducing environmental impact.
