Resumen
This article focuses on the proposal of traffic signal implementation, and signage of the intersection of Tupac Amaru Avenue and Manuel Prado Avenue. The micro-simulation model was developed using PTV VISSIM software, integrating current data related to vehicle and pedestrian counts, and other factors. The proposed traffic signal improvements involved modifying the timing of red, green, and amber lights. Additionally, signage was implemented to restrict U-turns at certain approaches and to prevent vehicles from encroaching on designated lanes, particularly those for heavy vehicles. Preliminary results show an improvement in the level of service, from F to D at certain approaches, a 47% reduction in queue length, and also a 50% reduction in vehicle travel times, in the best-case scenario, compared to the current situation.
