Resumen
The purpose of this research was to evaluate the efficiency of an electromagnet in attracting polymetallic particulate matter under laboratory conditions. Three electromagnet prototypes were built with 40, 70, and 110 turns, with the latter generating the strongest magnetic field, in accordance with Ampère’s Law. Metallic residues from milling, cutting discs, and grinding were used in the experiments and classified by particle size ranges: 50–150 µm, 10–50 µm, and 1–20 µm, respectively. Statistical analyses such as the Shapiro–Wilk test, Levene’s test, one-way ANOVA, and Tukey HSD test were applied to verify data normality and homogeneity. The results showed that the electromagnet was more efficient in retaining larger particles: 48.02% for milling, 46.73% for cutting disc, and 21.45% for grinding. It is concluded that particle size and electromagnet design directly influence attraction efficiency, supporting the feasibility of its application in industrial contexts. © LEIRD 2025.All rights reserved.
