Resumen
The challenges in the durability and strength of rigid pavements in the city of Arequipa require innovative solutions. Therefore, this experimental and quantitative research has as its main objective to determine, among the four proposed dosages, which is the most optimal dosage that enhances resistance to compressive loads. The methodology consisted of designing a control mix using the American Concrete Institute method (ACI 211.1) to achieve a compressive strength of 280 kg/cm2 after prior characterization of the aggregates. Subsequently, based on the control sample, 3 modified dosages were created: 1.5% FbA, 5% CCA + 1.5% FbA, and 10% CCA + 1.5% FbA. A total of 16 cylindrical specimens of 100 mm x 200 mm were molded (4 for each dosage); after 28 days of curing, the compressive strength test was carried out. The findings demonstrated that the characterization of fine and coarse aggregates did meet the conditions to be used in the ACI 211.1 design; the compressive strength test at 28 days showed that the dosage with 1.5% FbA and 5% CCA was the most optimal, reaching an average strength of 300.33 kg/cm2 exceeding the control by 7.31%. Consequently, it is concluded that the ACI 211.1 method is effective for the design of pavement structures; furthermore, the dosage of 1.5% FbA and 5% CCA increases resistance to compressive loads, demonstrating that this dosage is a viable alternative to improve the durability and strength of rigid pavements in the city of Arequipa.
