Evaluation of Inadequate Inspection and Poor Inventory Management in a Company of the Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Sector

Chacon Zapata G.E.; Alvarado-Silva C.A.; Bedregal León A.E. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2025) · DOI: 10.18687/leird2025.1.1.647

Resumen

This study aimed to explore the impact of inadequate inspection practices on inventory management within a pharmaceutical company based in Arequipa during 2024. Employing a quantitative methodology with a non-experimental, correlational design, data were collected via a structured survey administered to 50 employees from logistics, warehouse, and inventory departments, selected through non-probabilistic sampling. The findings revealed that 96% of participants demonstrated limited understanding of inspection procedures, while 98% reported encountering challenges in managing inventory effectively. Statistical analysis identified a moderate positive correlation between inspection quality and inventory management performance (Rho = 0.536, p < 0.01), indicating that deficiencies in inspection processes tend to adversely affect inventory control. Key factors such as stock monitoring, regulatory adherence, operational oversight, and interdepartmental coordination were examined, with over 90% of cases showing low performance levels in these areas. The results suggest that insufficient inspection practices compromise inventory efficiency, exposing the organization to both financial and logistical risks. Consequently, the study recommends enhancing internal control mechanisms, providing comprehensive staff training, and refining inspection protocols to foster more efficient, profitable, and sustainable inventory management. © LEIRD 2025.All rights reserved.
