Resumen
In the high Andean areas of the Puno region, accessibility to conventional energy is limited. For this reason, biomass provides the necessary energy for cooking through direct combustion, using the traditional stove (TS), which generates polluting emissions and causes health problems for the people who use these stoves. This article shows the results of the evaluation of the thermal efficiency in the transfer of energy and the generation of carbon dioxide (CO2) during the combustion of solid biomass in the proposed improved stove (PIS). The natural draft PIS with double combustion was designed, with 2 kW of power output, for solid fuels composed of dry llama manure (DLM), dried beef manure (DCM), and dry firewood (DF) or dry wood residues. To evaluate the performance of the PIS, the boiling water test (BWT) was used. Based on BWT, a reduction of 19.4% in fuel consumption was estimated for the PIS concerning TS. In conclusion, the PIS performed better than the TS with a 17.06% reduction in CO2 emission. The thermal efficiency of the PIS indicated an increase of 7.5% concerning the thermal efficiency of the TS.
