Resumen
Vehicular traffic in Lima has generated significant losses in time and operating costs, ranking the city second in Latin America for traffic congestion. This study addresses the critical congestion at the intersection of Bajada Bertoloto and Costa Verde in San Miguel, where the closure of the southbound return access has created a bottleneck. To mitigate this, a bypass (segregated return lane) was designed and evaluated using BIM methodology and Autodesk InfraWorks simulations. The geometric design was optimized to comply with national regulations [6], increasing the minimum radius of curvature from 70 m to 120 m. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposal is technically viable, achieving a drastic reduction in average travel time from 20 minutes to approximately 1 minute (a 95% optimization). It is concluded that the proposed bypass is an effective engineering solution that restores traffic fluidity and ensures safety without necessitating total access restrictions.
