Resumen
Project management represents a fundamental pillar for improvement, enabling the planning, implementation, and monitoring of technological innovation initiatives across various productive sectors. In the food industry, the development of technological solutions aimed at optimizing production processes requires structured methodologies that reduce technical risks and enhance design performance. The aim of this research was to comparatively examine different project management methodologies applied to the development of technological solutions and to evaluate their relevance for projects within the food industry. The study adopted a quantitative approach with a descriptive–comparative design, based on a scientific literature review, the analysis of management methodologies, and the use of a multicriteria evaluation matrix to assess their performance in the development of a technological solution. The results demonstrate that structured methodologies, particularly those based on the PMBOK guide, improve project planning, optimize resource management, and strengthen control and quality systems during technological development. Furthermore, performance indicators show high schedule compliance, efficiency in resource utilization, and a reduction in rework throughout the design process. It is thus determined that the use of the PMBOK guide significantly contributes to improving the efficiency of the technological innovation process in developments aimed at the food sector.
