Resumen
In the Peruvian Andes during the 21st century, certain Indigenous communities influenced by rural development projects are improving the living conditions of their homes. In the high-mountain peasant community of Janac Chuquibamba, families who are heirs to the Inca Ayllus are assisted by institutions in strengthening their capacities and approached from an ethnodevelopment perspective to bring about changes in the traditional production of living spaces. This qualitative and longitudinal research study uses the case study method and convergence of techniques to analyze how ethnically relevant development influences the living conditions of Indigenous housing. The results show families as the main actors applying ancestral and modern knowledge to manage natural and productive resources, with the goal of improving residential living conditions by developing a new housing system that allows for specialized domestic, productive, and sanitary practices in the indigenous residential habitat of families and the peasant community.
