Resumen

Ergonomic risk was assessed for workers performing their duties in two types of milking parlor designs at a dairy farm in Peru. A 62-item questionnaire was applied to six milkers to evaluate global ergonomic risk (REG) and postural risk (RP). In the first stage, they worked in a herringbone milking parlor without a pit (SF), and in the second stage, workers worked in a parallel milking parlor with a rapid exit pit (CF) at the same dairy farm. Ergoniza Tool Box 3.0 software was used for ergonomic assessment. The Laboratoire d'Economie et Sociologie du Travail (LEST) methods were used for TEG, and the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) and the Ovako Working Analysis System (OWAS) methods were used for PR. The REF in the SF parlor was higher compared to the CF parlor for physical and mental load. For RP, 70% of the tasks involved in milking cows were rated as «very high risk» and highly harmful to the musculoskeletal system (MS) when performed in the SF parlor, while 67% were «low risk» and 100% were not considered harmful to the MS in the CF parlor. Milking parlor design directly affects the overall ergonomic and postural risk for workers during milking tasks. © (2026), (Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos). All rights reserved.
