Resumen
Environmental competencies are essential in the development of behaviors that allow the treatment of complex circumstances related to global climate change. The objective of the study was to identify the level of environmental competences possessed by university students in relation to Climate Change. The research was configured within the positivist paradigm, of descriptive exploratory type, non-experimental transversal design. The sample was represented by 180 students of the integral education and education career with mention in computer science, of a public university, to this group two questionnaires were applied. The results showed that the level of environmental competences of the students was moderate, low and very low in its different dimensions, conceptual, procedural and attitudinal, in addition to having low knowledge about the causes and consequences of CC. It is concluded that the trainees are not prepared to face the CC, so it is recommended to incorporate in the education career plans of both programs activities that develop environmental competences for the action that transforms the knowledge in function of favoring the change of attitudes and life patterns that are aligned to the guidelines of the Education for Sustainable Development, which pursues the adequate use of energy, the recognition, value and preservation of the resources of nature in pursuit of the mitigation of the dangerous natural events linked to Climate Change, as well as its adaptation.
