Resumen
This article studies the participation of the emigrants Francisca Cabrera and Mariana Pacheco in the independence of Peru and the consequences they suffered due to their withdrawal from the city of Huamanga before the battle of Ayacucho. Through the records of expropriation of goods, it is argued that both ladies, being the wealthiest families and maintaining links with the army of the crown, suffered the ravages of war since 1814 and provided forced contributions to both armies. When they left Huamanga before the battle of Ayacucho, they were left in the condition of emigrants and by decrees of the republican authorities, unlike the capitulates, they suffered the expropriation of their farms, orchards, mills and mansions. Although after prolonged trials they recovered their goods, the seizure marked an impoverishment of Huamanga and eliminated the purchasing power of the women.
