Resumen
Universities, in their educational process and in accordance with Latin American education guidelines, foster spaces for entrepreneurship from within university classrooms. University students can learn to build their entrepreneurial intentions, especially when these intentions are related to emotional intelligence, leading to a new approach to solving social problems. This study aims to determine the influence of emotional intelligence on the entrepreneurial intention of business administration students at a private university in Peru. The research method employed is descriptive and quantitative. The study utilized a correlational research design, with instruments applied to a sample of 106 students. Ordinal logistic regression analysis was used. The findings indicate that the predominant level of emotional intelligence is average, at 76.4%. Additionally, the intrapersonal capacity dimension reached 74.5%, according to emotional intelligence dimension levels. The regression analysis confirmed that emotional intelligence significantly influences entrepreneurial intention (χ2: 41.449; p<0.05), with a Nagelkerke coefficient of 0.376, indicating that emotional intelligence accounts for 37.6% of the variation in entrepreneurial intention. It was concluded that the alternative hypothesis is accepted, rejecting the null hypothesis.
