Resumen
Addressing climate change is crucial, and agriculture faces significant challenges in protecting crops from extreme temperatures, optimizing irrigation and fertilization, improving the carbon footprint through vertical farming, and ensuring food security. This study aimed to develop a remote system that allows monitoring and controlling greenhouses for sustainable use in agricultural production using a linear quadratic regulation (LQR) algorithm to precisely control the optimal environmental parameters of temperature, humidity, and ventilation. The system is connected to the cloud via a user-friendly interface. The LQR model provided control precisions of 71.92% and 66.41% for the humidity and temperature, respectively. The system simulation also showed a reduction of more than 95% in the system time response owing to more efficient temperature and humidity management. The findings indicate the efficacy of the proposed system in enhancing greenhouse performance. In conclusion, this study demonstrates how embedded control systems can improve local farming production by developing accurate applications for Agriculture 4.0.
