Resumen
This paper offers an initial critical analysis oí Ego Azul (1998), a novel written by the Peruvian plastic artist José Tola de Habich (1943-2019). Tola is widely recognized for his paintings, although his literary work is less well known; this work reveals an aesthetic continuity with his visual art. Based on an analysis of the novels main thematic threads (violence, metamorphosis, the grotesque, and its connection to sexuality), this study examines how these elements come together to form an artistic vision characterized by transgression. The study highlights the coherence of the authors creative universe, in which image and word emerge as manifestations of the same expressive impulse. © (2026), (Academia Peruana de la Lengua).
