Resumen
The global COVID-19 pandemic affected the psychological health of the population, with significant consequences for mental health. The present study aimed to analyze the variables influencing resilience and posttraumatic growth (PTG) in a sample of the Mexican population during the pandemic. A cross-sectional, descriptive, and explanatory study was conducted using the Psy-COVID instrument, designed ad hoc for the pandemic context and composed of a battery of brief measures administered online. Variables were analyzed using descriptive and correlational statistics, as well as structural equation modeling (SEM), examining the relationships between resilience and posttraumatic growth with sociodemographic variables, adherence to preventive behaviors, and mental health. Results showed moderate levels of resilience and posttraumatic growth, along with significant associations between both constructs and the variables included in the models. Path analysis revealed the influence of individual characteristics on positive psychological adaptation to the pandemic. These findings highlight the importance of considering sociodemographic variables and psychological status to better understand adherence to preventive behaviors and levels of resilience and posttraumatic growth in the face of prolonged stressful events.
