Resumen
Small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Peru constitute the support of an economy that generates high levels of employment, but they are also vulnerable to survival due to the absence of management strategies. The objective of this research was to determine the mediating impact of the creative environment in the relationship between empowerment and job satisfaction in employees of SMEs. The research adopted a post-positivist approach with a quantitative paradigm and the application of the hypothetical-deductive method. Simple random probabilistic sampling was used in SMEs in the manufacturing and commerce economy sectors in the cities of Lima and Arequipa with a sample of 318 analysis units for the application of structural equation models. The results found that empowerment produces an effect on job satisfaction and the creative environment. The findings demonstrated that the creative environment plays a mediating role in the relationship between empowerment and job satisfaction.
