Resumen
The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a virtual educational intervention, applied to 55 women attending a Maternal and Child Health Center, on the knowledge and practices related to folic acid consumption among women of childbearing age. A pre-experimental pre- and post-test design without a control group was implemented, consisting of five weekly virtual sessions of 30 minutes each. Prior to the intervention, correct knowledge responses did not exceed 36.4%; after the intervention, knowledge levels reached 94.5% to 100%. Daily supplement intake rose to 63.6%, and the consumption of folate-rich foods reached 92.7%. In addition, the medians of knowledge and practices increased from 1.3 to 5.9 and from 0 to 3.5, respectively (p<0.001). The virtual educational intervention significantly improved knowledge and practices regarding folic acid consumption among women of childbearing age. © Article published by the Revista de la Facultad de Medicina Humana of Universidad Ricardo Palma.
