Resumen
Background: Exclusive breastfeeding is crucial for healthy infant development. The primary aim of this study is to assess the impact of tele-nursing as an educational strategy on first-time mothers' knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding (LME). Methods: A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design without a control group was employed to evaluate the effect of tele-nursing on first-time mothers' knowledge. The sample consisted of 100 mothers with infants under two months old, selected from urban and rural areas of a public hospital. Mothers received training through tele-nursing sessions over 4 weeks using the Zoom platform. Results: The study demonstrated significant improvements in mothers' knowledge regarding the importance of exclusive breastfeeding (+1.2 points, p=0.001) and its benefits for the baby and mother (+1.1 and +1.2 points respectively, p<0.01). Furthermore, there were improvements in understanding appropriate breastfeeding techniques, identification of common issues, extraction and storage of breast milk, self-care during breastfeeding, and dispelling misconceptions (all with differences of +1.2 points and p<0.001). Conclusions: Tele-nursing intervention proved effective in enhancing mothers' knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding.
