Resumen
The study aimed to evaluate the effect of including nanoemulsified essential oils of chincho (Tagetes elliptica) and oregano (Origanum vulgare) on productive parameters in fattening guinea pigs. Fifty weaned male guinea pigs (15 days old, 280-300 g) were distributed into five treatments: T1 (control), T2 (antibiotic growth promoter), T3 (chincho essential oil), T4 (oregano essential oil), and T5 (chincho + oregano combination), all at 200 ppm. The trial lasted seven weeks, and initial weight, weight gain, dry matter intake, feed conversion ratio, and carcass weight and yield were evaluated. The results showed that T5 had the best response (p<0.05), with the greatest weight gain (673.3 g), feed intake (3208.1 g), feed conversion ratio (4.8), and carcass weight (678.0 g). It is concluded that the combination of nanoemulsified essential oils is a promising natural alternative to the use of antibiotic growth promoters in guinea pig feed. ©Los autores.
