Effect of gibberelic acid on yield perfomances of two globe artichoke cultivars

Casas-Diaz A.V.; Montes I.; Dueñas A.; Hurtado M.; Arteaga W. · Acta Horticulturae (2025) · DOI: 10.17660/actahortic.2025.1424.15

Resumen

The artichoke crop in Peru belongs to the group of emerging crops, however, the crop needs to resolve various aspects related to its management, in particular the use of phytohormones to improve its performance in terms of growth and development, but on the other hand, it is necessary to evaluate the behavior of different cultivars and their level of response under local conditions. In this context, a trial was conducted at La Molina, Lima, Peru to determine the effect of gibberellic acid in two artichoke cultivars. Trial was conducted between March and November 2022. Three gibberellic acid rates were tested. Rates evaluated were 20, 30 and 40 ppm sprayed at 0 (control) 45, 60 and 75 days after transplanted in two artichoke cultivars, ‘Green Triumph’ and ‘Madrigal’. The best gibberellic acid rate was 30-40 ppm, with no statistical differences. While the highest yielding cultivar was ‘Green Triumph’ with 6.41 t ha-1, while ‘Madrigal’ yielded 2.86 t ha-1,.
