Resumen
The objective of this research was to implement educational software to develop mathematical skills in elementary school students in Chiclayo, Peru. The study was basic in nature, with a quantitative approach, a hypothetical-deductive method, and a quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of 20 sixth-grade students. The results showed that 45% of the students demonstrated a low level of mathematical skills, primarily because 55% exhibited low levels of logical reasoning, and 50% demonstrated low levels of problem-solving ability. Furthermore, among the main characteristics of educational software are a visually appealing and engaging design, its usefulness as a strategy, and its accessibility. Being an open-source tool, the research outlined the procedures for using the Open Roberta Lab educational software and the OpenBoard software. In conclusion, significant improvements in mathematical competence levels were obtained after the implementation of the educational software, validating the hypothesis through the Wilcoxon test by finding statistically significant differences between the pre-test and the post-test (Z = -3.846, p < 0.001), indicating that the intervention had a significant effect on mathematical competence. © Licencia de Creative Commons Atribución 4.0 Internacional (CC BY 4.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/deed.es
