Resumen
Education is a social need and a fundamental human right; the foundations of contemporary democracy are laid on its precepts. Under this vision, education and democracy converge in the search for the common good and social welfare, as an act of recognition of cultural diversity, the breadth of social values and the democratic principles that permeate social settings. The democracy/education interaction is another political, epistemic and ontological effort, on which the urgency of emancipation of society is presented, in the face of the pretensions of the Western hegemonic logic of homogenizing knowledge. For this reason, education is forged as a questioning of Western civilization and the displacement of identities, while promoting interculturality as a political tool for the exercise of democracy, for the decolonization and humanization of individuals. © Korean Society for Food Science of Animal Resources.
