Resumen

The economic crisis affecting Latin American countries, particularly in agricultural activities, necessitates the improvement of resource efficiency, such as water and agricultural inputs. The objective of this work was to propose a methodology supported by economic theory and econometrics to optimize the use of water and nitrogen in sugarcane crops under specific conditions related to the number of cuts and temperature. Microeconomic theory and the regression method with constraints were used for this purpose. The methodology was applied in an area in the La Libertad region of Peru. The results demonstrated the advantage of the proposed methodology by suggesting optimal applications of water and nitrogen, resulting in estimated sugar yields per hectare for maximum benefit.
