Dynamic SME capabilities for crisis management and operational performance

Villena Presentación R.; Garcia Janampa L.P. · Revista Venezolana de Gerencia (2025) · DOI: 10.52080/rvgluz.30.especial13.15

Resumen

This research seeks to identify and determine the capacities of SME managers in crisis management, focusing on dynamic capacities: detection, capture and transformation. This research contributes to the understanding of crisis management in SMEs and will provide valuable information to improve the resilience and performance of this important economic sector. The research design is quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional and causal. The data were collected through a questionnaire based on the Likert scale designed to measure dynamic capacities for crisis management and operational performance by analyzing through structural equations. The findings revealed that the capacity for transformation, based on the nature of each SME, is the one that has the greatest impact on operational results (β= 1.05). The research addresses the paucity of research on crisis management based on dynamic capacities in SMEs in a Latin American context. Contributing knowledge about these capabilities can improve the performance and sustainability of SMEs in an uncertain environment.
