Drawings of viceregal Lima: two frontispieces by fray Gregorio Monel

Resumen

This article presents the historical context of the practice of drawing in Lima during the viceregal period. Thanks to the documentation located in the archives of the Dominican Province of San Juan Bautista del Perú, it has been possible to find unpublished graphic testimonies, such as the two drawings of frontispieces by Friar Gregorio Monel. The discovery of these works signed and dated by their author allows us to know the artistic practice of the beginning of the XVIII century.
