Resumen

This article represents an approach to the linguistic documentation around Quechua in the Amazonas region, one of the Peruvian indigenous languages in danger of extinction. The research is focused on documenting the last speakers in the districts of Lamud and Colcamar in the Luya province, in the department of Amazonas. Firstly, a historical panorama of Amazonas Quechua is provided, including its geographical expansion, its use during colonial times and subsequent decline. Regarding the methodology and tools used, this research place within the qualitative and descriptive approach, and is framed in the methodology of the processes of linguistic documentation. The sample consists of three sessions, collected from two speakers of Quechua of Amazonas. A video camera, an audio recorder, a headband microphones and a unidirectional microphone were used as tools. ELAN version 6.8 and PRAAT version 6.4.12 were used for data processing. For graphemic transcription, an alphabet proposal consisting of 18 letters was used. Amongst the main results, we found two features in Amazonas Quechua: the presence of an accent pattern in the first syllable of words and the use of a vocabulary assignable to other languages, such as a local pre-Inca language and mostly to Spanish. Finally, the importance of this kind of studies is highlighted not only for contributing to the linguistic knowledge of Quechua, but also to the social efforts to preserve it. © Los autores.
