Resumen

Intercultural education has been consolidated as a central axis in the debates on social equity and diversity, due to the growing cultural heterogeneity of contemporary societies. This study is based on a systematic review to analyze the relationship between intercultural education, diversity and social equity. The findings highlight the challenges in implementing intercultural strategies in education systems, including structural inequalities, limited teacher training and resistance to curricular transformation. In addition, the research underscores the need to integrate multiple epistemologies into educational programs to ensure equitable representation of different cultural groups in knowledge construction and decision-making. Despite normative advances, the gap between theory and practice remains significant, which restricts the impact of intercultural education in reducing inequalities. The study also emphasizes the importance of community participation, critical teacher training and the development of inclusive pedagogical methodologies. It concludes that intercultural education plays a crucial role in promoting social justice by fostering inclusive learning environments and recognizing cultural diversity as a fundamental component of educational equity. Addressing these challenges requires comprehensive policies that incorporate interculturality and intercultural education.
