Resumen
Research on the diversification of semi-milled rice imports is essential for Peru, as it ensures economic stability by reducing dependence on specific markets and facilitating access to new suppliers with diverse varieties and qualities, thus strengthening the country's food security and economic resilience. Therefore, the overall objective is to analyse the diversification of semi-milled rice imports in Peru, 2014-2023. The methodology is based on a basic and quantitative approach, with a non-experimental and descriptive design. A documentary analysis was carried out with data obtained from INFOTRADE to objectively assess import trends and patterns. An average annual growth of 1% in FOB value, 0% in net weight and a 1% increase in price was found. Although there is a decreasing trend in the concentration of supplier countries, with a HHI that went from 6121 in 2014 to 4472 in 2023, Uruguay and Brazil continue to dominate Peruvian imports of semi-milled rice. As for importing companies, there is a trend towards diversification, with a HHI decreasing from 1367 in 2014 to 939 in 2023, indicative of a non-concentrated market. It is recommended to implement policies that promote the diversification of suppliers and importing companies in Peru to ensure a constant and varied supply, strengthening food security and reducing vulnerability to market fluctuations.
