Resumen
Disaster risk management makes it possible to prevent or limit the occurrence of damages such as loss of life, injuries, impact on health and property, on society, the economy and the environment. Knowledge generates prevention capacity. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between disaster risk management and environmental awareness in university students in Peru. The research was basic with a quantitative, correlational approach, non-experimental and transversal design. There are 92 university students who responded to two questionnaires validated by expert judgment and Cronbach’s Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.981 and 0.985, respectively. The results reveal that the regular level predominates in disaster risk management with 42.4%; and 53.3% claim to have a medium level of environmental awareness. Likewise, a significance (r=0.818, P-value= 0.000) is evident between the variables. It is concluded that, if the university achieves an efficient level of disaster risk management, it will have a favorable impact on the environmental awareness of students, that is, the university becomes a means to develop environmental awareness and the capacity for consensus and responsibility social to manage disaster risk reduction. © (2024), (Universidad del Zulia).
