Resumen
The objective of this study is to evaluate Scopus-indexed documents on digitalization and data management in the circular economy between 2018 and 2024, identifying trends and influences through a quantitative bibliometric analysis of 400 publications. The results show a growing adoption of technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and blockchain, with a geographical concentration in Asia and Europe, while Latin America and Africa exhibit significant gaps. The study highlights that publication quality is as relevant as quantity, with countries like Italy and the United States demonstrating high influence despite not leading in document volume. The study’s implications underscore the need to promote equitable access to technologies and strengthen international cooperation. In conclusion, digitalization and data management have proven to be key factors in the evolution of the circular economy, optimizing resource management and driving sustainable business models. Future research is recommended on the socioeconomic effects of digitalization and longitudinal studies assessing its impact on the transition to an effective circular economy.
