Resumen
This systematic review explores the barriers and strategies for optimizing dog adoption from shelters through the use of mobile applications. Obstacles were identified such as canine stress, low effectiveness of adoption advertisements, unrealistic expectations of adopters, and economic and cultural constraints. Fifteen articles selected from Scopus between 2020 and 2024 were analyzed using the PICO model. The results indicate that digital strategies such as human interaction programs, optimized advertisements, and centralized mobile platforms can increase adoption rates and reduce dog stress. The methodological limitations of the reviewed studies are also discussed. It is concluded that a well-designed mobile application has the potential to transform adoption processes, and future research evaluating its implementation and sustainability is recommended.
