Resumen
Digital document management is a way of using technology to manage the flow of documents within an organization throughout their life cycle, seeking improvements in efficiency and effectiveness. In this regard, the objective of this research was to understand the experiences of administrative staff at two public universities in the Ucayali Region of Peru regarding the digitization of administrative and academic processes. Through a qualitative approach and semi-structured interviews with ten (10) key actors from these institutions, benefits such as cost reduction and improved administrative efficiency were identified, as well as insufficient progress in digitization. Among the obstacles identified were resistance to change, lack of adequate technological infrastructure, limited training in digital tools, system interoperability issues, and concerns about data security, hindering the adoption of digital technologies in administrative and academic processes. It is concluded that university authorities should promote a complete digital transformation that benefits the public universities in question, improving efficiency, transparency, and sustainability, so that they can be referenced as models for other entities.
