Digital Management and Addressing Gender-based Violence: An Analysis of Public and Public Missionary Educational Institutions on Facebook

Lindao Flores M.B.; Bazán Guzmán M.L. · Memorias de la Conferencia Iberoamericana de Complejidad, Informatica y Cibernetica, CICIC (2024) · DOI: 10.54808/cicic2024.01.16

Resumen

Analysis of gender-based violence prevention on the social network Facebook highlights disparities between public institutions and public missionary institutions. Public institutions lack general content on the subject, focusing solely on addressing physical violence through routes and protocols. In contrast, ombudsman institutions stand out for their active commitment, constantly training on various types of violence, and generating periodic content on their official pages. In terms of activity on Facebook, public missionary institutions outperform public ones by having official pages backed by nongovernmental organizations. These are updated semi-annually and document various activities, resulting in greater interaction with users. A revealing quantitative result shows that state missionary institutions record 30% more interactions on their pages compared to public institutions, demonstrating a greater impact on the audience. Both types of institutions use multimedia resources, but ombudsman institutions optimize these resources by regularly posting content related to gender-based violence. The analysis of the management of authorities, teachers, and legal representatives emphasizes the importance of establishing concrete actions from institutions, families, and students to prevent gender-based violence. It is essential to promote safe practices, especially in digital environments. In summary, the study highlights the need for public institutions to improve their approaches and resources, taking successful practices of public missionary institutions as a reference in gender-based violence prevention on Facebook, with an emphasis on enhancing their quantitative impact on the audience.
