Vasconez-Gonzalez J.; Alexander-León H.; Ortiz-Prado E. · Journal of Medical Systems (2025) · DOI: 10.1007/s10916-025-02174-3

Resumen

Digital health represents a tool that offers numerous advantages and facilitates various aspects of healthcare. Despite the considerable development and implementation of digital health in first-world countries, including the creation of various policies, third-world countries face a series of challenges in its implementation and development. These challenges include a lack of both economic and technological resources, as well as a shortage of policies related to its development and implementation. This article describes the approaches to digital health transformation in Ecuador, to what extent digital health has been developed in the country, the barriers present, and the benefits of its implementation. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.
