Resumen
The main objective of this study is to assess the development of digital competence (DC) in future teachers. CD is essential for effectively integrating technologies into contemporary education. The educational field, the cultural capital, and the technological habitus play a crucial role in shaping DC, influencing how future teachers interact with digital tools and how these are used in their formative processes. The methodology is quantitative, based on interviews with 29 undergraduate education students from a public university in Peru. The results show significant improvements in DC from admission and throughout training; however, barriers to access and limitations in the effective use of technologies persist. Students highlight the value of innovative tools such as emerging technologies, recognizing their potential to transform teaching. In conclusion, continuous training programs are important to strengthening digital competence in a digitalized and globalized environment.
