Resumen
Digital Citizenship Formation (DCF) is essential in the Information and Knowledge Society, driven by Information and Communication Technologies. This education emphasizes preparing ethical and responsible global citizens, capable of facing the challenges and seizing the opportunities of the digital age. This quantitative and descriptive-explanatory study evaluated the level of DCF in 906 students from a Peruvian public university, considering various socio-educational factors through a questionnaire validated by experts and a psychometric instrumental approach for objective measurements. Insignificant differences were found in DCF levels between demographic and social groups; older individuals and those living independently exhibited higher scores. Academic use of the Internet correlated with higher DCF levels, while the number of computers had no significant influence. Biomedical Sciences students showed higher levels of DCF. These findings highlight the importance of debating the ethical and social impacts of digital technology to strengthen students' preparation in DCF.
