Resumen
The objective of this study is to present measurements regarding the publications related to the concept of “Digital Citizenship” based on data from Scopus from 2017 to 2022. For that reason, a bibliometric methodology was implemented with the intention of evaluating the productivity and the impact of scientific investigation in this field. Systematic research was carried out using the terms “citizenship” and “digital”. Besides, filters were applied by means of the use of Boolean operators with the aim of selecting accurate scientific literature. The inclusion criteria used were open access studies, publishing years and topic relevance. Plus, an exclusion criterion was included resulting in a total of 25 studies selected for the analysis. The bibliometric analysis was employed by using programming language type R and the Bibliometrix tool. These allowed the measurement of bibliometric indicators in several categories: sources of information, authors, member institutions and intellectual structure. Among the findings obtained, it has been found that Spain is the country with the largest number of publications related to this topic, with a total of 6 in the year 2019. This detail suggests there is an increase in the interest of digital citizenship in the last years. However, it is necessary to highlight that this concept hasn't been consolidated until the last years of the decade. To sum up, we conclude that the term “Digital citizenship” is of great importance nowadays since it implies a critical, ethical, and reflexive attitude towards the responsible use of information and communication technologies.
