Resumen
Augmented Reality (AR) is an emerging technology that has an effectiveness studied in educational contexts. However, the study of its potentialities and dilemmas is scarce in early childhood education. This study is carries out a systematic review that allows characterizing the didactic use of AR through a search that covers the learning purpose, pedagogical approaches, the type of AR, materials, resources, applications, and the significant findings in early childhood education. Scientific articles in the Scopus, ERIC, Dialnet, EBSCOhost and Web of Science databases were analyzed using the PRISMA protocol. The result yielded 20 studies for analysis. The results show its use with a learning purpose in the areas of English, communication, mathematics, artistic expression, and integration of areas. The pedagogical approaches that were applied constructivist learning and its combination with situated and game-based learning. The type of AR that predominated was level 2 (image). The most frequently used didactic materials and resources are videos, illustrated cards, songs and audios. The Arusma, Augment and Quiver applications report greater use at this educational level. An increasing trend of studies is observed in the last decade except during the pandemic. Finally, it was found that AR managed by the teacher allows the acquisition of English language, promotes early literacy, improves mathematical skills, favors the development of artistic skills, and enhances learning in integrated areas. This identification makes it possible to highlight the existence of work topics at an apparently underdeveloped educational level and establishes a line of educational research around the possibilities and dilemmas that AR has in childhood.
