Resumen

Environmental pollution is one of the biggest problems we face today; since it is not only affecting global warming but also triggering health problems in people, especially in countries or centralized cities that have their industrial zone in the metropolis in the region, which, in addition, agglomerate much Vehicular traffic caused by high urbanization. Various studies show that air pollution is currently presenting a higher number of people with various respiratory diseases in cities with the characteristics mentioned above, which is triggering a higher rate of people with silicosis, asthma, and other chronic respiratory diseases, than currently, is causing a high demand for health services at an international level and consequently being one of the leading causes of death in the world along with tuberculosis and lung cancer. Given this, the need for the implementation of a system that allows the monitoring of the different contaminants that can trigger these diseases and help to demonstrate to the users and authorities the current situation in which they find themselves within their locality. For this, an IoT system was developed that uses an ESP8266 development board that includes a WIFI module that allows uploading the sensor readings to a database to get the data collected in an interface or download the data to generate reports with Line graphs representing sensor readings over time. The system developed allowed to find that the hours where there is a higher peak of 2 types of pollutants: carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide, are the hours in which children and adults go to their study and work centers. In addition, it was noticed that the main factor behind these peaks is the high vehicular traffic that occurs at this time.
