Developing critical thinking and social-emotional skills through playful activities in students

Bravo Anchundia P.I. · Clio. Revista de Historia, Ciencias Humanas y Pensamiento Critico. (2026) · DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.17088674

Resumen

Education in the contemporary era faces the challenge of training individuals who are capable of thinking critically, coexisting empathetically with others, and solving problems in changing environments. Therefore, it is relevant to investigate how playful skills can enhance critical thinking and socio-emotional competencies. On the other hand, it is important to note that critical thinking is not an isolated skill, but rather one that is nourished by emotional development, social interaction, and the capacity for symbolic play. In addition, the objective was to demonstrate the effectiveness of the playful skills plan in strengthening critical thinking and socio-emotional skills in students. The research has a quantitative, applied scope. The scope selected for the research was a quasi-experimental design, in which the study variables were verified using an experimental group and a control group. The results show that in the post-test, 93.33% of students marked ‘always’. Furthermore, the variation is not only descriptive, as it was statistically validated. According to the Student's t-test for two related samples, p = 0.034. Since it is less than the marked 0.05, a difference between the two measurements is accepted as significant. In conclusion, it is confirmed that the strategies used have an impact on the development of emotional management, interpersonal relationships and decision-making.
