Resumen
The present study, entitled Determination of Vegetation Cover Loss Using Remote Sensing in Padre Abad for the Period 2005 to 2025, aims toanalyze vegetation cover changes in this Amazonian province using multitemporal satellite imagery processed with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) such as QGIS and Python programming. The research addresses the alarming loss of primary forests in the region, driven by anthropogenic activities such as shifting agriculture, indiscriminate logging, illicit crops, and legal agricultural expansion. Satellite images from 2005, 2010, 2015, 2019, and 2025 were processed to generate thematic maps and statistical outputs that reveal deforestation patterns, regeneration processes, and critical areas. The results show a fluctuating dynamic of loss and recovery, highlighting the vulnerability of ecosystems under human pressure. This work provides scientific evidence for sustainable land-use planning and encourages the use of accessible remote sensing technologies as effective tools for environmental monitoring in highly fragile ecosystems. © LEIRD 2025.All rights reserved.
