Resumen
This study shows the development, fabrication and evaluates the acoustic performance of sandwich panels made with fiber cement and a recycled cardboard core, designed as a sustainable alternative for non-load-bearing walls in urban areas with high noise levels. In the development of this research, two prototypes were developed: one with the recycled cardboard panel and the other with fiberglass as the insulating core. These were tested following the guidelines of the National Environmental Quality Standards Regulation for Noise, weighting A. The results indicate that the recycled cardboard panel achieved an average noise reduction index of 14 dB and a sound insulation index of 0.2188, significantly exceeding the values obtained with fiberglass (3.1 dB and 0.0484, respectively). It can be concluded that these panels can be used as infill in drywall systems, offering an acoustic, sustainable and efficient solution for noise mitigation in urban buildings.
