Resumen
A place within the rock mass remains supporting stresses in a state of equilibrium; when the excavation is carried out, an empty space is produced, redistributing the stresses and generating a new state of stresses. In some cases, the stresses exceed the strength of the rock, inducing gradual closure, fracturing with rock fall, and rock bursts. Underground excavations are high-risk works, because it is difficult to observe and obtain exact data from the rock mass, such as: the geological and geomechanical factor, necessary for design and construction. For this purpose, in the process of design and construction, arises the need to estimate with the accuracy possible, the stresses in situ that will support the excavation, in relation to its geometry. In this context, we present the technical work "Determination of in situ stresses, according to Boreholes Detonation Method (BDM), this method is adapted to: the geology of the site, the faults, the different types of rock, homogeneous and heterogeneous conditions of the rock mass The Determination of in situ stresses, according to Boreholes Detonation Method (BDM); it gives us in present time, the values of orientation and magnitude, for the opportune operative decision in the place of operations and in the office of work. It is easy to apply and low cost. © International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering Norwegian Group for Rock Mechanics
